Three Brits Secure Top-10 places in World Cup Opener

Three British sliders secured top-10 finishes in the opening round of the 2008/9 Bob Skeleton World Cup in Germany today (Friday).

Amy Williams followed up her fifth place finish at last year's World Championships with sixth over the two runs in the first round of the new World Cup season on the Winterberg track.

Shelley Rudman, Britain's Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games silver medallist - finished 10th at the start of her first full World Cup season back after the birth of her daughter.

Kristan Bromley was the highest placed Brit in this afternoon's men's contest. Trailing in 12th after the first of two runs, he produced a better second run to end in a three-way tie for seventh place. Last season Bromley completed an impressive hat-trick by winning the World Championship, overall World Cup series and European Championship.

Adam Pengilly, European bronze medal winner last season, had to settle for 13th over the two runs in Winterberg today, with Ant Sawyer 17th.
