World Championships - Konigssee 28th February, 2004 Kristan Bromley recorded a creditable seventh place finish at the Skeleton World Championships in Germany today (Saturday).
Bromley, who has dominated the skeleton world this season winning the World Cup series and the European Championships, put in two good runs on the last day of the World Championships at Konigssee to move up from 10th place after the first day of action.
Simon Timson, Performance Director of the British Bob-Skeleton Association, said: "Kristan came back really well today. He showed he is a class athlete capable of digging in when he has too. He was much better technically today."
Bromley’s seventh was one place higher than at the 2003 World Championships in Japan. The 31-year-old Lancastrian had always stressed that the World Cup was his highest priority for the season – and he clinched that title two weeks ago.
British team-mate Adam Pengilly was the big surprise of the World Championships at Konigssee. He broke the track record on his first run of day two of the competition today (Saturday) setting a new benchmark of 48.77 seconds.
The 26-year-old’s track best was only bettered by Canada’s Duff Gibson, who knocked 0.08 seconds off Pengilly’s time in his final run to claim the World Championship crown.
Timson said: "Adam exceeded everyone’s expectations. He has made a real impression here and shown he can compete with the best in the world."
