Shelley Rudman took the gold medal in some style at the World Cup in
Koniggsee Germany today beating one of the local favourites Marion Thees of
Germnay by half a second. Melissa Hollingsworth of Canada took bronze with
Lizzy Yarnold in her first ever World Cup race finishing in 14th.
Leading after the first run by just fifteen hundreds of a second Shelley
saw Marion Thees put down a solid second run but it wasn’t good
enough and Shelley laid down the fastest run of the day to easily clinch
victory, her first of the season and one that was thoroughly deserved.
The win took her up to 3rd place in the overall World Rankings whilst Lizzy
Yarnold climbed to 15th in the World rankings after an excellent debut on
the World Cup Circuit.
in only her second competitive season Lizzy was 8th after the first run,
but a couple of small mistakes on the second run saw her drop to 14th, but
still a great result.
The team now move onto St Moritz in Switzerland for the last European Race
of the season before the circuit moves onto North America.
