World Cup Men Konigssee Adam Pengilly and Kristan Bromley took 7th and 9th
places respectively in the 5th World Cup of the season at Konigssee,
Germany today. A race that saw Martins Dukurs of Latvia beaten for the
first time in 14 months.
Konigsee is a favourite on the Race Calendar amongst many of the athletes
is Konigssee. Not just for the beautiful scenery that surrounds the
tranquil town but for the condensed and fast track that zips its way down
the mountain side to the banks of the cyrstal clear lake. And it seemed to
suit the British athletes despite the storms in the area and the snow that
fell at regular intervals.
Speaking after the race Adam said that he was happy with the result, his
best finish this season beating his previous best of 8th place set in
Altenberg the previous week.
Lying in 7th place after the first run his second run of 52:07 was enough
to see him retain his position despite the efforts of Tomass Dukurs of
Latvia who ended up 7th equal after posting the 5th fastest time of the
second run.
Kristan managed to put down a solid first run before the storms set in and
it was enough to put him in 10th place. He followed that with the 6th
fastest time on the second run which saw him climb above Sergei Chudinov
and secure ninth place.
The team now move onto the picturesque St Moritz in Switzerland for the
final race in Europe before heading to Whistler, Canada for the North
American leg of the tour
